Lelystad AirportLelystad Airport is the Netherlands largest airport for General Aviation. There is a steady amount of visitors thanks to instruction and sightseeing flights, restaurants, the hotel and the Aviodome; the Aviation themepark. The Aviodome itself attracts 150.000 visitors a year. There are extensive conference and meeting facilities on site and a special business charter. The modern turboprop and jet planes are able to fly to all minor airports across Europe where no scheduled flights are available. This means less hassle for and time for the business traveller.
In 2014 it was decided to further develop Lelystad Airport to a maximum capacity of 45.000 flights per year to help enforce Schiphol's economic function. That amount will be reached in the year 2043. The further fased development of Lelystad Airport will see a changes to it's infrastructure like a new access road, extension of both take-off- and landing strips as well as a multitude of additional facilities.
Ready for the future and completely renewed, Lelystad Airport will be fully operational by 2018.
